Cerebrovascular accident (CVA), sometimes called a « brain attack » is a sudden neurologic deficit of vascular origin. It is characterized by loss of consciousness, with a partial or a complete stop brain function, or an attack causing loss of consciousness or sudden death of the patient.
Hypertension is the leading cause of cerebrovascular attack.
The stroke may be related to unhealthy lifestyle (smoking, obesity), but they can also occur because of heredity and specific diseases (hypertension, high cholesterol, sleep apnea with snoring and daytime sleepiness, atrial fibrillation at decrements of myocardial infarction, impaired blood clotting).
